Hey ! Here’s a little about me.

My name is Tia O’Gilvie and I was born and raised in the beautiful island of Jamaica.

I have recently completed a Post-Degree Diploma at Langara College (Vancouver, BC), where I studied Web & Mobile App Design. My previous education was at the University of Technology (Kingston, Jamaica), where I received a Bachelor’s in Computing, with a major in Computer Science.

Prior to moving to Canada, I worked as a Software Developer at Digicel Group Ltd, a global telecommunications company. I was apart of the team that is responsible for writing dart code, using the Flutter framework, for their mobile application, MyDigicel app. In working on the development team, us developers would get access to the design files to code. These design files had sparked some curiosity in me which led me to do my own research on the field of design. I was later moved to the team responsible for redesigning the MyDigicel app, in working with the design team I discovered my passion for mobile app design rather than coding. This experience has started my journey in building myself to become a UI/UX Designer, and looking for opportunities in that career path.
